PRODUCT & OTHER QUESTIONS

  • What are solventless concentrates?

Solventless Concentrates are made without the use of chemical solvents like butane, CO2, or ethanol which are commonly used in cannabis processing methods. Solventless concentrates are instead made primarily with agitation, breaking loose the cannabinoid and terpene rich trichome from the plant. The three main forms of solventless concentrates are bubble hash, rosin, and dry sift.

What are the benefits of solventless concentrates?

Solventless is the cleanest form of concentrates on the market, this is because no chemicals or solvents are used in the extraction process. In our solventless process, we collect the whole, in-tact trichome. The trichome is the part of the plant that contains all of the cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids which gives cannabis its unique smells, flavors and effects while also giving it that “frosty” look. By collecting only trichomes, solventless is the purest representation of the cannabis plant. Every terpene/cannabinoid that the plant produces is available in the concentrate with no plant matter or anything that contaminates the flavor or modulates the effects. This creates the cleanest form of concentrates.

What is bubble hash/fresh frozen bubble hash?

Bubble hash is a solventless concentrate made by soaking the plant material in near freezing ice water and then agitating it to release the trichome head for collection in specific micron bags. The trichome head is the cannabinoid and terpene rich part of the plant that gives cannabis its effects/flavors, and crystally look. Fresh frozen bubble hash is made with the same process as bubble hash and is also made only from material frozen directly at harvest, preserving all of the plant’s aromas and flavors.

What are micron bags and why are they important?

A micron is a very small measure of unit, and in this case refers to the size of holes in the screens used to collect the bubble hash(trichomes). When you see the lowercase u after a number, it’s used as a symbol for micron. Hence 90u is 90 micron. We collect the bags from the largest, 220u, to smallest, 45u.

    – 220 micron bags separate plant matter and are not usually collected for hash. It is typically food grade.

    – 190 micron bags separate remaining plant matter, and is usually collected for vape carts or food grade.

    – 160 micron bags capture larger and variable quality trichomes with complex terpenes.

    – 90 micron bags capture mature, most sought after trichomes full of terpenes and cannabinoids.

    – 70 micron bags capture semi-mature to mature trichomes depending on strain.

    – 45 micron bags capture small and immature trichomes.

The Micron bags are important as they allow us to separate the individual ripening stages of the trichome and therefore the quality within each micron can vary greatly with each cultivar. The individual quality and flavor of the hash can vary greatly by micron and can be likened to that of an orange tree. While the smallest oranges are immature, they have the sourest flavor and minimal juices. That would be our 45u. Our most ripe, sweet and juicy trichome would be found in the 90u collection bag. This is the reason why the 90u is more expensive and found primarily in our higher tiers.

What is the difference between full melt and full spec hash?

Full-spec Hash is a combination of all the microns that we collect for hash. Our full spec rosin consists of 160u-45u or 160u-70u if the 45u is inferior and degrades the overall quality. Full spec hash can be misunderstood simply because it’s not the 90u, but full spec is the truest representation of the flower possible and can also lead to a more complex effect because all of the micron ranges are included. Full melt is the highest-quality hash and named such because when consumed, it melts completely leaving no char and minimal residue on the nail. Think of it as the filet mignon of the hash world. Full melt hash is very rare and only produced by a small number of select strains, grown to its full potential, harvested with extreme care at peak ripeness, and then delicately remove and collect the trichomes from the freshly frozen flower to be dried and packaged.

    What is live rosin?

When it comes to concentrates, the term “live” refers to concentrates that have been extracted from plant material that have been freshly frozen at harvest, preserving all of the terpenes present at harvest. In contrast, the most common types of concentrates are extracted from plant material that has been dried and cured before processing. In that curing process the most vital and flavorful terpenes are lost creating a product with less flavor and effects. Rosin is a solventless extraction method that uses heat and pressure to extract the oils(cannabinoids, terpenes, etc…) from dry sift, bubble hash, or cured flower. Live rosin is rosin made specifically from fresh frozen bubble hash. That hash is then placed into 25u screens and squished under low heat and high pressure to filter out the waxes and fats of the trichome head and collect only the potent oils encapsulated within it. We can liken this process to making juice from grapes. The fresh frozen bubble hash are our grapes, which we then filter through a 25u screen to remove the grape skin(waxes and fats), to get our grape juice(rosin). Thus, “live rosin” is a solventless concentrate, made only from fresh frozen material, that is then filtered in ice and water to make bubble hash, that is then further refined using only heat, pressure and 25u screens to create the ultimate cannabis product.

    What is Cold Cure?

Cold Cure refers to the curing process being done at a temperature of 68 degrees Fahrenheit or below. When it is whipped the result is a “badder” consistency concentrate. This is a fantastic method for maximizing the preservation of the terpenes in the badder.

How/why is live rosin different from live resin?

Live rosin as noted above is a concentrate made with fresh frozen material using solventless extraction. Live resin is a concentrate made with fresh frozen material using solvent-based extraction techniques like BHO(Butane Hash Oil). The two different extraction methods create a very different end product with a different look, smell, flavor, and effects coming from the same starting material. Because live rosin is made without the use of any solvents it not only is a cleaner product, but also presents a more accurate representation of the plant. Live rosin is also said to have a “cleaner” effect than live resin as well as a smoother smoking experience.

    What are low temp dabs?

Low temperature dabs are when one consumes concentrates off a nail, banger, etc.… that is under 500 degrees Fahrenheit. There are many reasons to do low temp dabs, it will enhance your experience with more flavor, a smoother vapor, and optimized effects. With low temperatures, you experience a larger array of flavors by slowly vaporizing the terpenes and cannabinoids instead of instantly with a traditional temperature dab. The most common terpenes found in cannabis have boiling points(when they begin to vaporize) around 300-400 degrees Fahrenheit.

    Pinene- 311 F

    Caryophyllene- 320 F

    Myrcene- 334 F

    Limonene- 349 F

    Terpinolene- 365 F

    Linalool- 388 F

    Humulene- 388 F

A study found here linked consuming at a high temperature with the release of toxins and carcinogens, while dabbing at lower levels produced “no evidence so far of finding toxins”. Not only do low temp consuming methods produce a healthier, more flavorful experience, but also keeps your nail cleaner, longer than taking high temp dabs. When you take a high temp dab your concentrates instantly vaporize and leaves a dark stain on your nail/banger. If you’re banger is getting a dark stain, you’re going in too hot. IR temperature gauges are available to make sure you take the proper temp dab every time. E-nail, Puffco style pieces are also a great way to ensure a proper low temp dab.

  • Why should I choose rosin cartridges?

Rosin cartridges are the purest on the market. Our Ideal Live Rosin cartridges are made without any fillers, emulsifiers or added terpenes. You may be familiar with distillate cartridges, which unlike rosin cartridges, have reintroduced terpenes to their cannabinoid mix to enhance what would otherwise be a flavorless product. Our rosin cartridges have only one ingredient; rosin that is made from freshly frozen cannabis. The frozen cannabis is then put into an ice water bath, which helps to collect trichomes. The trichomes are then freeze-dried and pressed between two hot plates using a 25micron screen to extract the rosin. Our rosin cartridges taste just like the strain of cannabis it was extracted from and do not include any artificial additives, flavors, or terpenes.

Why are some rosin cartridges darker than distillate cartridges?

Rosin cartridges can be darker than some distillate cartridges due to the differences in the process of extraction. The source material for rosin cartridges is a full spectrum blend of the plant’s compounds like terpenes and cannabinoids that have remained in –tact and together throughout the extraction process. Some strains can also naturally be a little darker in color than others. Our rosin cartridges do not use any filtering media to lighten the oil, such as the ones commonly used when producing distillate cartridges.

With distillate, the plant’s compounds are collected separately and then reintroduced to create as close analog to the original flavors and effects of the plant. In that process, the terpenes and cannabinoids are run through filters to improve clarity and color.

Why do some rosin cartridges taste “burnt”?

There are multiple factors in a rosin pen having a “burnt” flavor. The main reason for the burnt flavor is the oil is not soaking into the chamber fast enough. This most commonly happens when a battery is set at too high of a voltage. The high voltage batteries do create more vapor but sacrifice flavor by vaporizing oil quicker than the chamber can soak it up. In our research, we have found that batteries that are under 2.6v perform the best and 2-2.4v is the sweet spot for most rosin cartridges. In most cases, the lower the temperature, the better the flavor.

Another common reason for a burnt taste is a long or too hard of a draw on the pen. Pulling too hard or too long can allow the oil to be vaporized quicker than it can enter the chamber. Anything longer than a 5-7 second pull or battery push can burn the rosin from too much heat.

The other common reason for the burnt flavor is too much use in a brief time. Overall, we learned how you keep rosin cartridges tasting great has been smaller hits at lower voltages and repeat as needed.
